New Sports Commission

DESTIN, FL – The Destin Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Destin have announced plans for a joint Sports Commission to attract tournaments and traveling leagues, particularly during slower seasons.

This economic development initiative is designed to not only to put Destin’s sports facilities, such as the Morgan Sports Center, to good use, but also to draw people and revenue streams to Destin during the ‘off’ season.

The Chamber will name and approve the 11-member Commission and appoint a chairperson by the end of the month. At this point in the planning process, the Destin Area Chamber hopes to see the Commission get right to work promoting a marketing strategy to create events and draw participants in the coming months.
