Missing woman found dead in Lynn Haven
LYNN HAVEN — Police have identified a missing woman found dead in a seldom-traveled area near a lift station in Lynn Haven.
An autopsy indicated Donna Wooten Hight, 48, of Lynn Haven, was not a victim of foul play, according to Lynn Haven police. There were no signs of trauma or physical injury.
A group of children found her body Monday when they walked through the right-of-way between Minnesota Avenue and Jason Drive. Police on Tuesday described her body as "badly decomposed."
Hight's fiance had reported her missing early Saturday after he woke up to find her gone. He told police she left without much-needed medicine.
Lynn Haven's assistant police chief, Dennis Kiah, said in a press release that police made numerous attempts to find Hight after the report and issued lookout alerts to surrounding agencies.
Investigators still are awaiting toxicology results.
An earlier version of this story:
LYNN HAVEN — Police are expected to release more information later Tuesday regarding a badly decomposed body that was discovered around 7 p.m. Monday.
The body was found in the area of a lift station at 25th Street and Minnesota Avenue, according to a Lynn Haven Police Department news release. An autopsy is being conducted and some details will be available Tuesday afternoon, Chief David Messer said, but police do not believe foul play was involved.
Police said the woman may be someone who was reported missing Saturday.
Bay County Sheriff's Maj. Tommy Ford said authorities are confident it is not 17-year-old Amber Ann Allen, who was reported missing that day.
“She was on felony probation and she has a history of running away,” Ford said of Allen.
Allen was visiting family for the weekend while on leave from a court-ordered juvenile facility. BCSO is still conducting an investigation to find her.
