Kings reign on the docks (with CATCH-OF-THE-DAY PHOTOS)
The bite is a little better.
Last week, the king mackerel bite was a little slow, however Monday it picked up some with boats bringing in some nice catches.
Capt. Mike Graef on the Huntress and his anglers from Arkansas were one of the groups that found the kings.
“They bit like firecrackers,” Capt. Graef said. The group reeled in a dozen kings on a four-hour trip.

A family from Oklahoma aboard the Sportsman II with Capt. Steve Land had a nice king mackerel and a Spanish mackerel.
And of course the youngest angler on the boat, 8-year-old Garrett Jones, landed the biggest fish on the boat. Young Jones pulled in a 7-1/2 pound king.
Capt. Trey Windes on the Outta Line and his group from Pittsburgh backed in with a king mackerel, triggerfish, mingo, white snapper and three bonito.
The Inshore Angler with Capt. Cody Gray came in with three redfish and two speckled trout.
“We also broke off some big reds and a shark under the bridge,” Gray said.
Mississippi anglers on the Backlash with Capt. Jason Mikel came in with a nice catch. They had a king mackerel, three grouper, an amberine and a bonito on the racks.
The Shamrock II with Capt. Eddie Dykes came in around noon with a king mackerel and several mingo and white snapper. Capt. Dykes said the king bite for him was better last week, and a little slow Monday.
Either way, there are always more fish in the sea — and our captains know how to find them. So come on down and book a trip.
