Aeromodelers Air Show to benefit Wounded Warriors

NICEVILLE — The Eglin Aero Modellers will host their second fundraiser Saturday for the Wounded Warrior Project based in Jacksonville.

The Wounded Warrior Project’s mission is to honor and empower the nation’s injured service members through several rehabilitative and adjustment services.

The Mullet Festival site at State Road 85 North and College Boulevard is the location for the fundraiser, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature radio-controlled flight airplane, sailplane, helicopter and turbine jet demonstrations throughout the day and a flight simulator to test your own RC piloting skills.

“As soon as motorists saw planes in the air, the parking lot was full!” said Pam Cortner with EAM about last year’s event.

There will be a flyover show by the full-size T-6 Texan aircraft team.

Plenty of food, cold drinks and a huge raffle with thousands of dollars in prizes will add to the day’s festivities.

Children can participate in a hand-launch glider event.

Special guests will include the Army Ranger snake exhibit and show, recipient of eight Purple Hearts and author Billy Waugh and Wounded Warrior alumni to give accounts of their Purple Hearts.

Bring sunscreen and hats to enjoy a day full of RC aerobatics and honoring those who have given so much. Admission is free.
