Bake My Day creates custom wedding cakes

Cakes are made with natural syrups and scratch fruit purees to make flavors such as vanilla and chocolate sponge cake and dark chocolate.

All cakes are filled and baked using natural ingredients such as Madagascar bourbon vanilla, rich Swiss chocolate or creamy butter. For the finishing touch, cakes are iced with 100 percent butter cream and chocolate ganache.

Godwin said the most popular flavor is her tuxedo replica cake and her citrus cake.

The tuxedo cake is made from one layer of chocolate sponge cake and two layers of French vanilla. The citrus cake is infused with the rinds and orange and lemon juice.

“We encourage clients to bring in any ideas, pictures and colors that will help inspire us in the final design,” she said. “Brides come in with their own ideas, or I show them my portfolio, and we just go from there.”

Wedding cake prices depend on the complexity and number of servings, but typically run for $6.50 a slice.

Consultations are free, but a non-refundable deposit of 25 percent is required to secure a date. The remaining balance is due one month before the wedding.
