Daily News

A 55-year-old woman died Friday after crashing her car into a tree stump.

Sue Loggins, of Crestview, was driving west on U.S. Highway 90 near Log Lake Road when she allowed her Mercury sedan to drift across the oncoming lane and off the roadway about 11:50 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The car traveled along the shoulder until its left-front corner crashed into a large tree stump.

The car overturned one and a half times and came to a rest on its roof, according to an FHP release. Loggins, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not yet known whether she was under the influence of alcohol.

The FHP's investigation remains open.
