The Fall Home and Garden Expo will take place Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Northwest Florida Fairgrounds, 1958 Lewis Turner Blvd., Fort Walton Beach. The Expo is brought to you by the Building Industry Association of Okaloosa & Walton Counties, the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Okaloosa County Master Gardeners.
The Home & Garden Expo will feature exhibits of products and services and educational seminars for the homeowner and gardener.
I will provide a seminar titled Fall: Florida’s Best Gardening Season. This presentation will begin at 10 a.m. and will include information on annuals, perennials, bulbs, vegetables and herbs to plant during fall. Fall lawn care and the reasons why trees and shrubs are best planted during fall and early winter will be addressed. Learn why fall should be our busiest gardening season in North Florida.
At 1 p.m. Okaloosa County master gardener Robert Fultyn will provide a seminar titled Preparing Lawns for Winter. Growing a lawn in Florida can be frustrating. To help make it less frustrating, you can enjoy this informative presentation that could be titled, “Everything you wanted to know about lawns but were afraid to ask.” Fultyn is a local lawn expert. His presentation will be driven by your local lawn questions.
Both seminars will be held in room A3 in the Food Court area of the fairgrounds.
Okaloosa County master gardeners will be having a plant sale and will have an educational exhibit to help answer your lawn, landscape and garden questions at this year’s expo. Those interested in purchasing plants need to arrive early as the supply is limited.
Tickets purchased in advance will be $1 and can be purchased at all Eglin Federal Credit Union Branch Locations. Children 12 and under get in free.
