Mark your calendar for the weekend of Sept. 27 through 29 to fish in the third Big Mac Classic Fishing Tournament.
The event is moving to the Destin Fishing Rodeo’s familiar weigh station located behind AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar on the Destin harbor.
AJ’s will be the official host for the annual fundraiser presented yearly by Emerald Coast McDonald’s of Fort Walton Beach.
The event benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Northwest Florida which provides a home away from home for families with a hospitalized child and is located next door to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
As the host for the annual Destin Rodeo, AJ’s will create excitement the weekend before the official month-long Destin event by hosting this annual fundraiser for RMHC.
There’s something for everyone with a live auction planned at 6 p.m. during the captain’s meeting and dinner on Friday night, free family kid’s events on Saturday, more silent auctions and raffles all weekend long and of course weigh-in each afternoon Saturday and Sunday.
First prize for largest king mackerel is $5,000 and other cash awards for dolphin, barracuda, amberjack and wahoo will also be paid out to top anglers.
Boat entry is $200 if paid online by Sept. 15 or $250 afterwards.
There are calcutta levels for amberjack and king mackerel. There is also a bonus aggregate prize for king mackerel during the two day event. You can also purchase a $5 raffle ticket for a chance to be the new owner of a screaming yellow 2005 Ford Mustang and a 2013 Craigcat Elite, a two-person watercraft.
You could win both if Ronald McDonald draws your name on November 3rd at AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar during the awards banquet for the Destin Rodeo.
The Big Mac Classic event includes a free kid’s fishing tournament on Saturday, September 28th from 10am till noon. The Cane Pole Classic will be attended by Ronald McDonald assisting as a celebrity weigh master.
The event is open to children 12 and under. To view pictures of past events or for more information on participation, donation, sponsorship or entry please visit facebook/bigmacfishing, the website bigmacfishing.com or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
