Halloween Hauntings 2012

Published: Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:48 AM.

Halloween events in Okaloosa and Walton counties begin this week with a haunted house, and continue the rest of the month with events for adults, children and even the family dog.

ECWR Haunted House

The Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge presents its Seventh Annual Haunted House at 7 p.m. Oct. 13.19, 20, 26, 27 and 31 at Uptown Station in Fort Walton Beach. Take a journey through the scariest, creepiest, most blood-curdling attraction this side of the continental divide ... if you dare! This is not a haunted house for the faint of heart; small children are not recommended. Admission is $8.

Volunteers age 16 or older are needed now to build/design and later as monsters/victims, security, makeup, costumes, and more. Contact Debbie at mknbkn4u@cox.net or 850-685-9014 for more info or to volunteer.

Ghost Walk and History Tour

Join the ghosts, spooks, pirates and witches at Camp Helen State Park for an adventuresome evening of continuous storytelling and historic re-enactment from 5-8:30 p.m. Oct. 13. The seventh annual Ghost Walk and History Tour, hosted by the Friends of Camp Helen, is suitable for children. Costumes are encouraged and flashlights are recommended. Tickets are $5/adults and $3 for children 12 and under. The Park is at 23937 Panama City Beach Parkway (U.S. 98) near the Walton/Bay County line.

Parking at the state park is limited to the handicapped. All others are requested to park at Winn-Dixie and ride the free shuttle to the park. Call 215-4651 or email lcherry@cdc-s.com for more information.
