A Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade and Costume Contest benefiting Alaqua Animal Refuge takes place from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Fonville Press at Alys Beach. Bring your four legged friends to the annual event. A prize will be awarded for Best Owner Dog Duo and we'll drop a giant pumpkin filled with sweet treats for the kids. Admission is free.

Trunk-or-Treat Fall Festival

Good News United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa Beach will have its annual Trunk-or-Treat Fall Festival Oct. 20. There will be games, inflatables, trunk-or-treating, face painting, crafts, hotdogs and lemonade. Funnel Cakes will also be on sale for $2. Great Pumpkin Paddle

The Paddle Destin crew will hold the first Stand Up Paddle Board “Great Pumpkin Paddle” at 10 a.m. Oct. 20 at Scully’s on the Bayou in Fort Walton Beach. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and then dance the day away with DJ.

Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume, Best Carved Pumpkin, Pumpkin Sprints and more. Trick-or-Treat on the water. Registration is $25 each and includes T-shirt, lunch and goodie bag. Raffle items will also be available with proceeds to benefit Shelter House, a local shelter for battered women and children. Pre-register at paddledestin.ticketbud.com/great-pumpkin-paddle.
