You don't have to decide between sightseeing and going on an adventure thanks to Klear Kanoo, an all-transparent kayak fit for two.
It was through some research that local couple, Silvia and Greg Giovannelli, found a kayak manufacturer that in fact does produce transparent kayaks. And so, the Giovannelli's decided to start up shop in Miramar Beach and become distributors of the unique vessel.
"We now have the exclusive ability to sell them to this area and beyond," Silvia said.
For right now, Silvia and her husband are focusing on sales in this area, offering free delivery to customers in Pensacola to Panama City.
As a Realtor for ResortQuest, Silvia can see rental units being equipped with their own Klear Kanoos in the future.
"It will be sort of a plus for the renters," she said.
The canoes — or Kanoos — are made out of the same polycarbonate material used in the production of bulletproof glass and fighter jet canopies. They're manufactured with an anodized aluminum internal frame system, dual flotation bladders and a three-quart water bailer. At 40 pounds, they're fairly easy to lug around, too.
"The Klear Kannos are for any person of any age or any skill level," Silvia said. "They're clearly fun for everyone."
And the experience of seeing under the sea as you paddle through can almost make you feel as if you have super powers.
"It's like Wonder Woman's invisible plane," Silvia said. "Seeing everything below is just incredible, it feels like you're floating on water."
The Giovanellis love their water sports, but since acquiring one of their own Klear Kanoos, they have spent little time with their other water toys.
"We have a sailboat and stand-up paddleboards, but we haven't used them much since we got a Klear Kanoo," Silvia said. "We took it out to Crab Island and everybody was just in love with them. They made a big splash — we got close to some dolphins and we got to see everything."
The clear canoes will debut at the Seaside 4th of July Parade.
