SNOWBIRDS: Let the games begin

Published: Friday, December 28, 2012 at 02:36 PM.

Destin Snowbird Carol E. Burrows is inviting all who are interested in knitting to join her at the Mainsail Condominium complex (call 837-7894) from 10 a.m. to noon starting Wednesday, Jan. 3. Each year this group creates different items to be given to charities. This year's project will be the creation of knitted teddy bears, which will be distributed through the sheriff's department to children in need of comfort and support. Carol has found other knitting groups all along the coast. Starting with the Coastal Library at Hwy. 331 (Mondays 1-3 p.m.), moving west to St. Rita's Catholic Church (Wednesdays 9 a.m.), and on to the United Methodist Church in Destin (Fridays 10 a.m.) are groups who meet on a year round basis. All would welcome any winter visitors to help them create their special projects. Carol is also willing to teach knitting. A time commitment of 1 hour for 4 to 8 weeks is required for most beginners. Contact Carol at 837-8552 for more information.

Next week all activities will be in full swing. Look for highlights and instructions relating to our BIG REGISTRATION Monday, Jan. 7, in next week's edition of this publication.
