Dance Facets 2013

NICEVILLE – The dance students at Northwest Florida State College present the annual dance concert, Dance Facets 2013, featuring original works and choreography, at 7:30 p.m. April 13 on the Mainstage of the college’s Mattie Kelly Arts Center. Music Lovers Dream Jam

Emerald Coast Sing-Off

DESTIN – The Emerald Coast Sing Off - Clash For The Cash 2013 finals will be held from 4-10 p.m. April 14 inside the Conference Center at the Palms of Destin Resort. Geoff McBride will be the head celebrity judge and headline entertainer along with 10 of the best singers in this area.

NWFSC Reads 2013

NICEVILLE - Author Julianna Baggott will present an excerpt from Fuse, the second in her sci-fi thriller series The Pure Trilogy, during this year’s NWFSC Reads keynote event at 7 p.m. April 15 in the Sprint Theater at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center. A reception and unveiling of the college’s literary journal, the Blackwater Review, will be held beginning at 6 p.m. in room 132 of the Student Services Center. Other events include:

• April 15: Meet and Greet with Julianna Baggott from 10-11 a.m. in Room 133 of the Student Services Center.

• April 15: Book-signing by Julianna Baggott from 11-11:30 a.m. in the Barnes & Nobels NWFSC Campus Bookstore.

• April 15: Blackwater Review Reception at 6 p.m. in Room 132 of the Student Services Center.

 • April 16: Raider Writers sponsor a Poetry Slam Contest at 3:30 p.m. in the Tyler Recital Hall of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center. There is a $5 entry fee and a $50 first-place prize.

 • April 18: Blackwater Review Reading at 6:30 p.m. in the Morell Conference Room, room 302 in the Student Services Center.

Independent film series

DESTIN – The Friends Guild of the Destin Library presents a free movie, "Vasermil," (Hebrew, Amharic and Russian with English subtitles) at 7 p.m. April 16. The program is free and open to the public. Films are unrated and directed toward mature audiences. Seating will be limited to 60 on a first come, first served basis.

Seabreeze Jazz Festival

PANAMA CITY BEACH - The Seabreeze Jazz Festival celebrates its 15th year anniversary beginning at 5 p.m. April 18 and 19 and 11 a.m. April 20 and 21 at the Aaron Beasant Park Amphitheater at Pier Park in Panama City Beach. A free concert will be held from 1-3 p.m. April 18 in the Promo Area adjacent to the food court area with artists Brian Lenair, Margo Rey, The Peet Project, Yancyy, and the Motown Jazz Jam. Tickets are $80 per single day, $150 for a Weekend Pass good for Friday-Sunday, and $200 for a Four Day Pass. Crawfish Boil & Cold Beer Convention

DESTIN - The Rotary Club of Destin presents its inaugural Crawfish Boil & Cold Beer Convention from 5-9 p.m. April 19 at McGill Escrow & Title, 36008 Emerald Coast Parkway. Advance tickets are $25 for all you can eat crawfish boil and one free beverage or $30 day of the event. Hamburgers, hot dogs, barbeque chicken and Shake’s Frozen Custard will also be served.  Other Cajun festivities include live music, a “Coon Ass Parade” and auction featuring a trip to New Orleans, Carrabba’s wine dinner for 10 and other fabulous prizes. Props, Wings & Wheels

DESTIN ­- The second annual Props, Wings & Wheels event hosted by title co-sponsors Destin Jet and Legendary Marine will be held from 7-10 p.m. April 19 at Destin Jet, with proceeds to benefit Fisher House and the Special Forces Association Chapter 7. This year's luxury showcase extravaganza, "Skyfall Over Destin," will feature a mix of high end products, along with entertainment by David Seering & The Downbeat Classic Brass, dancing, a silent auction, food and more.Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased in advance at PropsWingsWheels.com.

Musical Echoes

FORT WALTON BEACH - Musical Echoes 2013, a celebration of Native American culture, art, and music, highlighting the extraordinary Native American flute, will be held beginning at noon April 19 and continuing through 3:30 p.m. April 21 at Fort Walton Landing, 139 Brooks St. The event is free and alcohol-free.

Art Walk

FORT WALTON BEACH – The Downtown Fort Walton Beach Art Walk, a free art bazaar with local art, food and live entertainment, will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. April 19 on U.S. 98. The Fuzion Fitness Dance Studio’s Girls Hip-Hop Group performs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Old Camp Walton Schoolhouse. Fluid Surf Shop will host a surf movie on the lawn behind Fired Up at the corner of U.S. 98 and Ferry Road. 

Cinderella

FORT WALTON BEACH – Rocky Bayou Christian School Fine Arts Department will present the Rogers & Hammerstein’s Enchanted Edition of Cinderella at 7 p.m. April 19 and 20 in the Fort Walton Beach Civic Auditorium. Fashion Night Under the Lights

DESTIN - Destin Commons will hold its first “Fashion Night Under the Lights” from 5-8 p.m. April 20 in Center Plaza. Guests will enjoy music by a DJ, prizes, raffles, giveaways, trunk shows and other activities. Snacks and refreshments will be provided by several retailers.

PEYAC

FORT WALTON BEACH - The Pottery Expo Youth Art Competition takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 20 inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum’s Lazarus Education Room, 139 Miracle Strip Parkway SE. PEYAC is designed to enhance pottery and clay art appreciation and is an opportunity for artists enrolled in a secondary educational institution in Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties to compete and show their work. Admission is free.

NWFSO concert

NICEVILLE – The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra presents its “Fate and Triumph” Concert April 20 at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center. The Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale, Belle Voci, NWFSC Madrigal Singers and the Niceville Singers of Niceville High School join the performance.
