Let the brassy big band sounds of In the Mood take you back in time to one of America's greatest musical generations — the 1940s Swing Era — at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College, Mainstage, in Niceville. The In the Mood Singers and Dancers, together with the String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra, present a retro look at a time in history when music moved the nation's spirit. Tickets are $35 each. Gumbo Contest/Silent Auction

DESTIN – The Destin History & Fishing Museum’s annual Gumbo Contest and Silent Auction Fundraiser will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Destin Community Center.
