Dog Daze

FORT WALTON BEACH – Dog Daze 2012, the community’s annual celebration of dogs and the families who love them, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at Liza Jackson Park, 318 Miracle Strip Parkway. New attractions include the Soccer Collies from Ocala. Local kids’ soccer teams (12 and under) are invited to go head to head (or toe to paw) with these talented soccer dogs. Kids play the goalkeeper position.

Other attraction include the Pensacola Furricanes, fun games, contests, dog-centered vendors, adoptable pets, and dachshund races, along with a pet parade with a Halloween theme.

All well-behaved dogs more than six months old are welcome with proof of vaccinations. There's no charge for people to attend, but a donation of $3 per dog is requested, with part of the proceeds going to a suitable worthy cause. Rain date Nov. 3 at The Landing.
